The report was treated as First Information Report (FIR) by the High Court of Bangladesh following a writ petition by a High Court lawyer. This is considered the first instance in the history of Bangladesh that any apex court ordered to police to treat and newspaper report as FIR. The High Court also issued a rule upon the government to explain in four weeks why the refusal of Rangunia police to accept the case from the victim’s mother should not be declared illegal.

Huge protest raised demanding justice in Bangladesh. People demonstrated at street for releasing the victim and justice for the poor family.
